Four civilians were killed by Burundi government soldiers just outside the capital, Bujumbura, witnesses said. "A man was going home in Rukaramu after finishing work at around 7:00 pm Sunday and was arrested by soldiers posted nearby who executed him after robbing him," one witness, who asked to remain nameless, told AFP. Three other people who were passing as the soldiers were killing the first victim "were also eliminated to keep them quiet," the witness said. The four victims were all shot once, an AFP reporter who saw the bodies said. Army spokesman Colonel Augustin Nzabampena, said the four men were killed "out of revenge", but did not give details.
