Four people were sentenced to death and four others sentenced to life imprisonment in the Murder Case of Gopal Krishna Muhuri. Taslim Uddin Montu, Alamgir alias Baitta Alamgir, Gittu Nasir and Azam were awarded the death penalty, of them, Gittu Nasir and Azam were tried in absentia. Gopal Krishna Muhuri, Principal of Nazirhat College, was shot dead at his residence on November 16, 2001.
