Fourteen people were executed in Xinjiang, including members of a gang who buried a victim alive.
The 14, all seemingly common criminals with no links to the region's Muslim separatists, were paraded in front of a mass rally before being led to the execution ground, the Xinjiang Daily was quoted as saying.
Among the condemned were a four-strong gang, led by a medicine salesman, who decided to settle an unspecified dispute by burying their victim alive, according to the paper.
At the same rally, other sentences ranging from prison terms to death were announced for nine others convicted of crimes including murder and robbery.
