Georgian MP Elene Tevdoradze denounced in Parliament a recent death sentence passed on an ethnic Georgian by the de facto authorities of the separatist region of Abkhazia

Georgian MP Elene Tevdoradze denounced in Parliament a recent death sentence passed on an ethnic Georgian by the de facto authorities of the separatist region of Abkhazia.
"Death sentence is abolished in Georgia, thus we have to make our best to prevent execution of death penalty on Georgian territory," MP Elene Tevdoradze said.
Parliamentary Chairperson Nino Burjanadze expressed the hope that the European Parliament delegation due to visit Sokhumi, the capital of the breakaway region, on February 26, would raise the issue during talks with de facto Abkhaz authorities.
"Death sentence is abolished in Georgia, thus we have to make our best to prevent execution of death penalty on Georgian territory," MP Elene Tevdoradze said.
