Ghazali Mat Ghani, 35, a former commando, was executed. Ghanzali had been convicted on September 30, 1994, of murdering police constable Abdul Rahim Manan with an M-16 rifle during a random car check. Abdul Rahim died on the spot from several bullet wounds while Ghazali Nawi suffered a bullet wound to the neck. The shooting occurred when the two policemen stopped a car carrying Ghazali Mat Ghani and three others. Ghazali Nawi testified that the accused had taken an M-16 rifle from the back of the car and fired several shots at Abdul Rahim before shooting him in the neck.
