Gov. Rick Perry has granted Rodolfo Hernandez a 30-day reprieve because the San Antonio man told police he had information about numerous other killings. The governor's spokeswoman, Kathy Walt, said Hernandez provided San Antonio police with details from more than 10 slayings that he either committed or knew who did. Walt said San Antonio police asked for the reprieve Thursday to give them more time to investigate Hernandez's claims after they corroborated details he provided about two unsolved killings. Rodolfo Hernandez, 52, learned of the reprieve at 5:58 p.m., just 2 minutes before his execution by injection was scheduled to begin in Huntsville. Hernandez was condemned for his role in the 1985 killing of a Mexican immigrant, Victor Cervan. Perry has only granted one reprieve before, to Jeffery Tucker on Sept. 11 because U.S. Supreme Court offices were closed after the terrorist attacks. He was executed 2 months later, on Novembre 15, 2001.
