GREECE. ATHENS BAR ASSOCIATION CALLS FOR WORLDWIDE ABOLITION OF DEATH PENALTY

the Athens Bar Association, on the occasion of the execution of former Iraqi president Saddam Hussein, stressed the need for the worldwide abolition of the death penalty.
The Bar Association said it deplored the preservation of the inhuman measure and stresses that it would undertake a series of initiatives for the abolition of capital punishment worldwide.
"Exerting pressure on all countries still keeping the death penalty is a primary duty of the judicial world and the obligation of every democratic citizen," the announcement said.
