Hartford Superior Court Judge Carmen Espinosa sentenced Lazale Ashby
Hartford Superior Court Judge Carmen Espinosa sentenced Lazale Ashby to death, making him the youngest man on Connecticut's death row. He was convicted in 2007, and sentenced to death on Jan. 31 (see) for the Dec. 2, 2002 rape and killing of 21-year-old Elizabeth Garcia. Ashby, now 23, turned 18 4 days earlier.
