Hundreds of Iraqis marched in central Baghdad to commemorate the deaths of relatives they believe were executed under Saddam Hussein

Hundreds of Iraqis marched in central Baghdad to commemorate the deaths of relatives they believe were executed under Saddam Hussein. The memorial put an end to years of searching, ending all hopes of finding their loved ones alive. Thousands of Iraqi families across the country had held out hope for years that their loved ones would one day be found alive. Following the fall of Saddam's regime, people went to the prisons to try and find missing relatives and watched as mass graves were discovered and exhumed. For most the search was fruitless. A symbolic coffin was held aloft and mourners held portraits of men - Sunnis and Shiites - who disappeared from the area.
