Hungary has been abolitionist since 1990, following a decision by the Constitutional Court. The last execution took place in 1988. Under Hungarian legislation, the refugee or forced migrant status is granted only to those foreign citizens who can not be extradited to law enforcement bodies in their country because they will face there a death penalty, tortures or inhuman attitude.
