Hussein ibn Shuraidah Al-Ruwaili, a convicted murderer, was spared from execution at the very last moment when his victim's brother granted a pardon. The executioner had his sword ready to behead Hussein ibn Shuraidah Al-Ruwaili at a public square in Arar when Monis Al-Ruwaili, the victim's brother said, "We pardon you only to please God." He also turned down any "diya", or blood money, to which the victim's family was entitled under the Islamic laws.
