In Beaufort, a jury sentenced Abdiyyah ben Alkebulanyahh to death. Alkebulanyahh, formerly known as Tyree Roberts, was convicted the day before in the shooting deaths of Lance Cpl. Dana Lyle Tate, 44, and Cpl. Dyke "A.J." Coursen, 35, on Jan. 8, 2002. Alkebulanyahh, 41, had spent 17 years behind bars since turning 18. Alkebulanyahh had been convicted of carjacking in 1981, armed robbery at a restaurant in 1986 and dealing marijuana in 1997.
