In Jacksonville, prosecutors will again seek the death penalty for Bobby Lee Harris, once featured in the Benetton clothing company's anti-death penalty ads (see also OCTOBER 22, 2001).Harris, whose 1992 death sentence was set aside by a superior court judge last year, will receive a new sentencing hearing this year in Onslow County, District Attorney Dewey Hudson said. "As soon as possible, I will place Harris' case on the calendar and let a jury determine the appropriate punishment," Hudson said. "The state will seek the death penalty." Harris, 36, is at Central Prison in Raleigh serving a 100-year sentence for other charges related to the 1991 slaying.
