In Waco, Sherman Lamont Fields, 29, was sentenced to death. Jurors in Waco's federal court handed down the death sentence in February after finding Fields guilty of capital murder in the 2001 shooting death of Suncerey Coleman. U.S. District Judge Walter S. Smith Jr. formally sentenced Fields on Wednesday and ordered him transferred to federal death row in Terre Haute, Indiana. Smith also sentenced Fields to 25 years for using a gun during the carjacking.
