India - A Ferozepur court sentenced a man to death for killing a seven-year-old boy

A Ferozepur court sentenced a man to death for kidnapping and killing a seven-year-old in boy in 2010. Additional sessions judge Rakesh Kumar held Sukhjinder Singh Sukha guilty of murder, who had killed the boy after kidnapping him for ransom. Sukhjinder had kidnapped Hardik Sharma, son of Dr Davinder Sharma of Makhu town of Ferozepur district, while he was going to school on October 23, 2010. On the same day, the boy's family was asked to pay Rs 2 lakh to secure his safe release. Dr Davinder, after informing the police, paid the ransom but late in the evening, Hardik's body was found near a gas agency on the road to Moga. Cops tracked the accused, Sukhjinder, after an investigation, who later confessed. The police also recovered part of the ransom.
