INDIA: COURT ACQUITS TWO DEATH-ROW

a division bench of Chief Justice Patel and Justice Roy of the Calcutta High Court in India acquitted Jahangir Alam and Anarul Haque for insufficient evidence. They were sentenced to death by a fast track court in Malda in July, 2009, for the rape and murder of an 11-year-old in July, 2006, at Bakchar village near Nalagola.
