in India, the Karnataka High Court reserved its verdict on the death sentence passed by the Chamarajanagar Sessions Court on a coconut vendor. A Division Bench, comprising Justice S.R. Bannurmath and Justice B.V. Nagaratna, reserved verdict on both reference and appeal on the death sentence. The Chamarajnagar court had sentenced Ramadasa Nayaka of Agara village in Yelandur taluk to death for brutally hacking his first wife. Nayaka, the prosecution said, had chased Neelamma on the streets of Agara. He cut off her hair and then hacked her when she fell down. He had severed the head from the body and later kept it on a compound wall.
