Vidya Shankar Patel, the Additional District Judge (IV) of Kanpur City in India, awarded the death sentence to Dhruv Kumar Tiwari, a resident of the Taura village of Unnao district. He was accused of murdering four people, including his employer and relatives on February 11, 2001. Tiwari was working as domestic help for Shyam Bihari Awashthi (a pan masala trader), resident of Suterkhana under police station Harbans Mohal. A family member discovered the four bodies lying in a pool of blood and Rs 2 lakh, silver coins and jewellery worth several lakhs of rupees were missing. Police recovered the cash and jewellery from Tiwari when arresting him.
