INDIA: GUJARAT HC GIVES DEATH PENALTY TO MAN FOR RAPE & MURDER OF 3-YEAR-OLD

Death Penalty was given to a man by the Gujarat High Court accused of raping and murdering a three-year-old girl in Gujarat’s Surat in 2018, Kolkata Times 24 reported on 27 December 2019.
The accused Anil Yadav is from Bihar. He is in his early twenties. As per reports, the victim’s family knew him. The incident took place in October last year. The girl went missing from her home. She was later found packed in a plastic bag in a locked building.
This incident occurred soon after the rape of a 14-month-old girl in the state’s Sabarkantha. The incident triggered chaos across the state and led to attacks on migrants from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.
Meanwhile, Anil Yadav fled to Bihar after committing the crime. The police arrested him in Bihar itself.
After taking into account the statements of 38 witnesses, death sentence was given by a special court in Surat later. The medical and circumstantial evidence was also taken into account.
