INDIA: GUJARAT MAN GETS DEATH PENALTY FOR RAPING, KILLING 3-YEAR-OLD GIRL

A court in Rajkot in Gujarat on 17 March 2020 sentenced a man to death for the rape and murder of a three-year-old girl in February 2018.
Special POCSO judge DD Thakkar sentenced Ramesh Dudakiya, an autorickshaw driver, for the crime which took place on 9 February 2018.
As per the case details, Dudakiya kidnapped the minor and raped her in a nearby isolated hostel building, killed her and fled.
He had also looted and murdered a 70-year-old woman just two days before raping and murdering the girl, the prosecution said.
Police arrested him for the woman's murder and subsequent probe proved he was behind the rape and murder of the toddler as well.
Medical evidence and deposition by a witness led to his conviction, the prosecution said.
