the Guwahati High court, India, confirmed the death sentence, awarded to Mithu Kalita, for murdering and raping a minor girl in Morigaon. It was alleged that the victim had gone to a marriage party when the accused took her out to a nearby bamboo grove and attempted to rape her. As the girl cried for help he killed her and dumped the body in a nearby pond.
