INDIA: JHARKHAND HC ACQUITS CHILKARI DEATH ROW CONVICTS

in India, division bench of Justices R K Merathia and D N Upadhyay of the Jharkhand High Court acquitted four men on death row due to lack of evidence. Chhatrapati Mandal, Manoj Rajwar, Jiten Marandi and Anil Ram were sentenced to death on June 23 by Additional District and Sessions Judge Giridih in connection with the massacre that killed former Jharkhand Chief Minister Babulal Marandi's son Anup and 19 other villagers on October 26, 2007.
