INDIA: MAN GETS DEATH SENTENCE FOR KILLING HIS SISTER

In a stern action against an Honor Killing case in Haryana, a court awarded death penalty to a man on 5 December 2018 who was guilty of murdering his sister.

In a stern action against an Honor Killing case in Haryana, a court awarded death penalty to a man on 5 December 2018 who was guilty of murdering his sister. Additional District and Sessions Judge awarded the death sentence to Ashok (26) a resident of Juglan village, Hisar.
Ashok was held guilty of murdering his sister Kiran in February 2017.
According to the prosecution, Rohtas of Siswal village had a secret love marriage with Kiran on August 8, 2015. The woman’s family when came to know had opposed their marriage as Rohtas belonged to a different community.
On February 9, 2017, Kiran died under suspicious circumstances in her home in Juglan village and her family then maintained, that she had committed suicide.
During investigation by the Police, Ashok, the brother of the deceased was arrested and he accepted killing his sister.
