A man and his paramour were awarded capital punishment by the District and Sessions court for murdering his wife in Burhanpur in Madhya Pradesh, India.
According to prosecution, Jitendra (26) and his paramour Arti (22) set afire Jitendra's wife Reena on October 11, 2011.
Reena died in the hospital and in her dying declaration she had blamed her husband and Arti for murdering her, following which they were arrested.
The sentence was awarded by the District and Sessions Judge Anand Mohan Khare to the duo under section 302 of the IPC.
The sentence will be applicable only after ratification by the High Court, the court said in its judgement.
