INDIA. MAN SENTENCED TO DEATH FOR RAPE AND MURDER

the Manjeri Fast Track Court in Malappuram, India, sentenced a man to death after convicting him of raping and murdering a 12-year-old schoolgirl. According to prosecution, 21-year-old Aboobacker committed the crime after luring the girl to a construction site near her school at Areembra on September 8, 2004. After killing her, the accused reportedly hid her body at the site. The incident came to light only three days later when police conducted a detailed probe after the girl's parents lodged a complaint that she had not returned home from school.
