INDIA: MINOR'S DEATH PENALTY SET ASIDE

holding that he was a minor at the time of commission of offence, the Madurai bench of the Madras high court in India, Justice M Jaichandren and Justice S Nagamuthu, set aside the death sentence imposed on V Selvam of Anupanadi for raping and murdering a 10-year-old girl on October 22, 2006, at Jaihindpuram, Madurai. At the time of the crime, Selvam was 17 years old.
