The local court of Chitrakoot sentenced 9 people to death in 13-year-old massacre. Two of the accused have been sentenced to life imprisonment. The accused were convicted for burning 7 people alive in Chitrakoot's Bagehapurva area, 13 years ago.
On 17th July 2003, a famous dacoit, named Ambika Patel of the area set fire to many houses in the village, killing 7 innocent people. After this massacre, some village people filed an FIR against 18 named and 25 un-named people. Four of the culprits have already died before the court could come on a conclusion.
