Indian President Pratibha Patil commuted the death sentences of Sattan and Guddu of Uttar Pradesh to life imprisonment. The pair have been on death row since 2009 for murdering six members of a family. The trial court sentenced four accused to death and in 2009, the Supreme Court upheld the death sentences of Sattan and Guddu.
