the Indian Supreme Court commuted the death sentence awarded to 35-year-old Sushil Kumar, of Jalandhar, to life imprisonment. On March 4, 2005, he poisoned his wife and two minor children and tried to commit suicide to escape extreme poverty. Justices VS Sirpurkar and Deepak Verma overturned the death sentence from the Punjab & Haryana High Court.
