INDIA. TWO MEN SENTENCED TO DEATH FOR MURDER

a court in New Delhi sentenced to death Jameel Ahmed and Dilshad for murder. The two, both from India’s Uttar Pradesh state were found guilty of killing Gyani Ram after suspecting him of having an affair with Jameel’s wife.
Additional Sessions Judge S.C. Rajan handed down the sentence, remarking that the case fell into the category of “rarest of the rare” and thus merited capital punishment.
Railway Police had discovered three abandoned bags in a passenger train at the New Delhi Railway Station on the morning of March 2, 2001. The bags contained parts of the mutilated body of Gyani. Medical examinations revealed that he had been strangled to death before the body was chopped into pieces.
