INDONESIA: 109 INMATES ON DEATH ROW

Data released this week by the Attorney General’s Office show that 41 of 109 inmates on death row are believed to be foreigners, all of them convicted of drug trafficking.
The inmates are from 16 countries. Nigeria tops the list with 12 inmates, followed by Australia with 6 and China with 5.
The data, however, appeared to not take into account the Supreme Court’s commutation of capital punishment sentences for three Australians drug traffickers, all members of the group known as the Bali Nine. The three are now serving life sentences.
Also on death row according to the data are two nationals each from Malawi, Pakistan, the Netherlands, Brazil and South Africa. The remaining eight are from Ghana, Zimbabwe, Malaysia, Senegal, France, Thailand, Nepal and India.
Drug traffickers made up of 56 of the total death row inmates, while the remaining 53 comprised murderers and terrorists.
