Brazil's President, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, was to make a special appeal to Indonesia for clemency for Marco Archer Cardoso Moreira, a Brazilian national condemned to death for drug smuggling.

Brazil's President, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, was to make a special appeal to Indonesia for clemency for Marco Archer Cardoso Moreira, a Brazilian national condemned to death for drug smuggling. Hang-gliding Instructor Moreira, 42, was caught with 13.4 kilograms of cocaine hidden in his equipment in August 2003. He was given the death sentence on June 8, 2004 and had exhausted all legal avenues. The Brazilian Foreign Office confirmed President da Silva would take the case to his counterpart, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.
