INDONESIA: SIX TERRORISTS GET DEATH PENALTY FOR DEADLY RIOT
The East Jakarta district court on 21 April 2021 sentenced to death six terrorists responsible for the deadly riot at a detention center outside Jakarta in May 2018.

The East Jakarta district court on 21 April 2021 sentenced to death six terrorists responsible for the deadly riot at a detention center outside Jakarta in May 2018.
According to the court’s website, the six defendants accepted the verdict and have not declared an appeal.
The six terrorists on death row are Anang Rachman, Suparman alias Maher, Syawaluddin Pakpahan, Suyanto or Abu Izza, Handoko or Abu Bukhori, and Wawan Kurniawan.
The court deemed their actions to be very sadistic and inhumane.
The inmates took six police officers hostage and later killed five of them. Four other officers were also injured. That terrorism is considered in Indonesian law as an extraordinary crime.
The riot took place in the Brimob HQ’s Block C facility on 18 May 2018.
According to the police, the riot was sparked by a dispute over food.
