IRAN - 19 people arrested for participating in 40th day commemorations

February 21, 2026 - IRAN. At least 19 Lors have been arrested by Iranian government forces in Baghmalek County, Khuzestan Province, and transferred to Sepidar Prison in Ahvaz.
According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the arrests took place on Friday, February 20, 2026. The detainees have been identified as
- Eshaq Haddadi,
- Jaber Haddadi,
- Abolfazl Haddadi,
- Javad Chirehnejad,
- Fardin Chirehnejad,
- Hossein Chirehnejad,
- Masoud Jashireh,
- Farshad Jaba,
- Afshin Hosseini,
- Abouzar Jaba,
- Davoud Mostofi,
- Farid Abdollahi,
- Heydar Hatami,
- Ardeshir Jarideh,
- Raham Vazeh,
- Hadi Diyaleh,
- Vahid Javarian,
- Amirhossein Jarastpour, and
- Mehdi Chamanpour.
Those arrested had participated in memorial ceremonies marking the 40th day of victims killed during the recent protests.
No detailed information has been released regarding the charges against these individuals. Efforts by their families to obtain information about their legal status have been unsuccessful.
