IRAN - 4 persons, not 3, executed in Urmia on March 16

March 16, 2025 - IRAN. The death sentence of four prisoners, including two women was carried out in Urmia Central Prison (Darya Prison).
According to a report received by Hengaw, at dawn on March 16, 2025, Arshad Farzadband, a 28-year-old Kurd from Margavar in Urmia, and Hamed Faraji, a 28-year-old Turk from Urmia, were executed in the Darya Prison of this city.
Arshad Farzadband was arrested three years ago and Hamed Faraji five years ago on charges of murder.
Additionally, the death sentence of two women, Mojgan Azarpisheh, a 31-year-old from Urmia, and Kosar Ghorbani, a 24-year-old from Naqadeh, was carried out simultaneously in Urmia Central Prison on the same charge of murder. Previous reports indicated 3 executions, now updated to 4. The name of one of the women also seems to have changed. A few hours ago Hengaw indicated Kowsar Baghernejad, now indicated as Kosar Ghorbani. As of the time of this report, the execution of these four prisoners has not been announced in state media.
