Iran's regime on Friday morning executed three men identified as Aram Omri (Aram Omari Bardiani), Rahman Parhazou (Parhazo), and Vafa (Wafa) Hanareh, and a woman, Nasim Namazi, in Urmia Prison on charge spying for Israel's Mossad.
Independent sources reported that the execution of these Kurdish political prisoners was imminent, citing, 'This is revengeful behavior in response to the killing of Raza Mousavi, a high-ranking IRGC commander, by Israel in Syria.'
The Supreme Court’s 39th branch recently confirmed the death sentences of Wafa Hanareh, Aram Omari Bardiani, and Rahman Parhazou. Mansour Rasouli’s death sentence was overturned and replaced with a life imprisonment verdict.
These individuals were sentenced to death in February 2023 by the third branch of the Revolutionary Court of Urmia, presided over by Judge Najafzadeh, on charges of “participating in intelligence and espionage cooperation for the benefit of Israel.”
The news is reported by various sources, with some differences. According to Hengaw, only the men were executed, while the woman, who was also taken to solitary confinement, may have been given a reprieve. Radio Farda speaks of three men and one woman, but, citing the website of the Iranian governmental news agency Mizan, does not know the names of those executed. According to some sources the executions took place on 28 December, according to others on 29.
