IRAN - 5 men and 1 woman executed in Urmia on March 17

(March 17, 2023) - 5 men and 1 woman executed in Urmia on March 17.
The death sentences of at least 6 Kurdish prisoners named Forohar Abbasnejad (Ashir Abbasnejad), Mohammad Ayoubian, Jahanbakhsh Radloui (Radlouyi), Hassan Omari, Nasim Niazi, and Yasin Rashidi were carried out in Urmia Central Prison. According to IHR, the executions happened on March 16.
According to the report received by Hengaw, in the early hours of the morning of Friday, March 17, 2023, the death sentences of at least 5 prisoners from Urmia, named Forohar Abbasnejad, 40 years old, Mohammad Ayoubian, 37 years old, Jahanbakhsh Radloui, Hassan Omari, and Yasin Rashidi, all sentenced for drug-related charges, were carried out in Urmia Central Prison.
The same day, the death sentence of a prisoner named Nasrin Niazi (Nasim), who was transferred from the women's prison to solitary confinement, was carried out.  There is no information available about the case and charges against this prisoner. Sources from the women's prison have told Hengaw that this prisoner has been sentenced to death on charges of "spying for Israel", which Hengaw does not independently confirm so far.
