Setareh Taherlou was executed in Damghan Prison. She had been arrested three years prior on charges related to drug trafficking, specifically the transportation of narcotics. According to information received by Hengaw, the execution was carried out at dawn on May 19. Based on statistics recorded by Hengaw’s Statistics and Documentation Center, at least 16 women have been executed in detention facilities across the country in less than five months since the beginning of this year. The execution has not been announced by state media.
