IRAN. EXECUTION SPARKS RAMPAGE OF REVENGE

the execution of a convicted killer in western Iran sparked a revenge shooting spree by his family against relatives of the murder victim.
The convict, who was not named, was hanged in a prison in Khoramabad on November 9 after the family of his victim refused an offer of five billion rials (550,000 dollars) in blood money and demanded the execution go ahead, the Kayhan newspaper said.
"After the execution, the family of the killer shot two of the victim's relatives, Mehrdad Dowlatshahi and Ali Hamzehfar, who both died," an unnamed local police officer was quoted as saying.
A policeman was also shot and injured in the revenge shooting spree.
Police arrested the father and brother of the executed man and they were still hunting another brother who fled to the mountains.
