IRAN. FOUR ARABS SENTENCED TO DEATH FOR TERRORISM

four Arabs convicted of unrest in Iran's southeastern oil city of Ahwaz were sentenced to death.
"My client Zamen Bavi and three other defendants were given the death sentence by an Ahwaz court on the charge of hiding bombs," lawyer Saleh Nikbakht said.
He did not provide details on the other three defendants.
"Although buying and selling weapons is illegal, hiding bombs without using them is not subject to the death sentence in the same way as it applies to those who attack the government," Nikbakht said.
Bavi, 28, had hidden seven home-made time bombs but defused them before he was arrested, the lawyer added. His clients also included five relatives of Bavi, all from a family of Arab origin.
"Mohsen Bavi, Sohrab Bavi, Hani Bavi, Moslem Bavi and Assad Bavi received jail terms of between 11 years and 30 years," Nikbakht said.
One defendant, Moslem Bavi, was under 18 at the time of his arrest and was sentenced to 11 years.
"I objected to the sentence because of his age, and a juvenile court is now dealing with his case again," Nikbakht said.
