IRAN - Hossein Akchin executed in Ardabil Prison on March 14

Hossein Akchin executed in Ardabil Central Prison on March 14. The news was released by IHR on March 23. According to IHR the man had been sentenced to qisas (retribution-in-kind) for murder and recently transferred to Ardabil Central Prison from Meshgin Shahr Prison for execution. His identity has been established as Hossein Akchin, who was around 35 years-old. According to informed sources, he was arrested on murder charges about six years ago and had been in prison since. At the time of writing, Hossein Akchin’s execution has not been reported by domestic media or officials in Iran.
