January 8, 2026 - IRAN. Jamilollah Shahi and Mohammad Ashraf executed in Taybad on January 8.
According to information obtained by Iran Human Rights, two men were hanged in Taybad Prison on 8 January 2026. Their identitites have been established as 37-year-old Jamilollah Shahi and 33-year-old Mohammad Ashraf from the city of Charikar in Afghanistan. They were arrested around two years ago on drug-related charges. Other sources, and HoC, already reported 2 other executions the same day in Taybad, those of Nemat Gholami and an unidentified man, also on drug related crimes. It is not clear, therefore, whether there were three or four executions in Taybad on 8 January.
At the time of writing, their executions have not been reported by domestic media in Iran.
