IRAN - Javad Vafaei Faces Imminent Execution
Political Prisoner Transferred to Solitary Confinement

December 6, 2025 - IRAN. Political Prisoner Javad Vafaei Transferred to Solitary Confinement.
Faces Imminent Execution.
On December 6, 2025, agents of the clerical regime’s judiciary transferred political prisoner Mohammad Javad Vafaei Sani, who is under a death sentence, to solitary confinement in Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad. He is at imminent risk of execution. Following his transfer, all communication between the prison and the outside world has also been disconnected.
Mohammad Javad Vafaei, 30, a boxing champion and coach in Mashhad, was arrested in January 2020 and subjected to brutal torture. He has been imprisoned since then and was sentenced to death on charges of supporting the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK). The regime’s judiciary has upheld his death sentence three times.
In recent months, many international human rights organizations, prominent figures, and sports champions worldwide have called for the cancellation of his death sentence.
The Iranian Resistance calls on the United Nations and its relevant bodies, the European Union and its member states, and all human rights defenders to take urgent action to save the life of Mohammad Javad Vafaei. On the Vafaei case, see also HoC 09/01/2022, 12/02/2024, 09/01/2025 and 06/10/2025.
