November 11, 2025 - IRAN. Mahmoud Ansari executed in public in Yasuj on November 11
According to information obtained by Hengaw, security forces executed Mahmoud Ansari at dawn in Yasuj’s Haft Tir Square. He had shot and killed a cardiologist named Masoud Davoudi outside his home on November 11, 2024, and was arrested later that same day. Ansari reportedly told investigators that the killing was driven by a dispute related to his brother’s medical treatment.
Branch 1 of the Yasuj Criminal Court sentenced Ansari to public execution in March 2025 on charges of murder. The Supreme Court upheld the death sentence in September 2025.
State-controlled media confirmed the public execution in Yasuj but withheld Ansari’s identity, only reporting that the prisoner had been sentenced to death for the murder of a specialist doctor.
