IRAN. MAN ESCAPES NOOSE FOLLOWING PARDON

an Iranian national, only identified as Morteza, escaped the noose after winning the forgiveness of relatives of his victim. He had been found guilty of murdering his 75-year-old aunt in a robbery in 2002. The governmental Iran newspaper said he was forgiven whilst stepping up to be hanged at Evin prison.
