A man, identified only as 'Mehdi', 43, was sentenced to death in Tehran on 7 July on charges of killing a police officer. The news is reported by javanehha.com, which added that the murder occurred 14 years ago. From the way the short story on javanehha.com is written, 'Mehdi' may have recently been arrested. The Hrana website, which cites the 'Shargh' newspaper, says that Mehdi was allegedly located by the police 3 years ago while he was living under a false identity.
