According to information received by Hengaw, the execution of Mehsa Akbari, who had previously been sentenced to death along with her husband, Sajad Molaei Hakani, on charges of murder, was carried out in Shiraz Central Prison. Hengaw reported yesterday on the public execution of Molaei Hakani in Larestan.
Local media reported that Akbari was the second defendant in the Beyram Larestan case, in which she and her husband were accused of murdering a mother and her three children with the “intent to commit robbery.” She was convicted and sentenced to death on these charges.
The reports added that following the four murders, the defendants attempted to abduct the family’s fourth child but were arrested during the course of the crime.
According to data compiled by the Women’s Committee of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), the execution of Mahsa Akbari brings the total number of women executed in Iran in 2025 to 29. At least 292 women have been executed in Iran since 2007.
