According to a report received by Hengaw, in the early hours of April 10, 2025, the death sentence of Moein Ashrafi, a 32-year-old man from the village of Qaleh Agha Abdollah in Bastam, Shahroud County, was carried out in Shahroud Central Prison.
He had been arrested five years ago in connection with a multi-party altercation that resulted in a murder, and was sentenced to death. According to informed sources, Ashrafi's family had offered 300 billion rials to obtain the victim’s family's consent to commute the sentence, and the victim’s wife was reportedly in favor of reconciliation for the sake of her children's future, but the family of the deceased refused the offer.
As of the time this report was published, state media have not publicly reported the execution.
