December 3, 2025 - IRAN. On 2 December, Iran reached 1,800 executions since the beginning of 2025.
After carrying out 12 executions on 1 December and 17 on 2 December, Iran surpassed the symbolic threshold of 1,800 executions. As of 3 December, the total number of executions reported by Hands off Cain is 1,820, including 56 women.
Last year, Iran carried out 968 executions, and two years ago, 878. Such a high number of executions as is being recorded this year is unprecedented in modern Iranian history, except for the summer of 1988 when it is estimated that between July and August, between 5,000 and 10,000 political prisoners were summarily executed.
