IRAN - On the killing of 16 year old Nima Shafiqdoost
The body of a 16-year-old teenager named Nima Shafiqdoost from Selmas district of West Azerbaijan (Urmia) Province who was wounded by direct fire from Iranian security forces during the protests in Urmia and then arrested, was handed over to his family.
According to the report received by the Hengaw Human Rights Organization, on Wednesday, October 5, 2022, the Iranian security institutions handed over the body of Nima Shafiqdoost from the village of Zindasht near Selmas and a resident of Urmia, to his family and threatened them that they should refrain from speaking to the media.
According to an informed source, Nima Shafiqdoost was seriously injured by direct fire from the Iranian security forces during the recent protests in Urmia’s Koshtargah neighborhood. He was arrested while being treated secretly in the basement of his father's house.
This source further stated that after the arrest of their son, Shafiqdoost's family had no information about his fate, despite continuous follow-up, until they were called and the body of their son was handed over.
